Hairy cows were the order of the day yesterday at the Highland Cattle Sales just up the road from us here at Cologin. Highland cattle, instantly recognisable with their long horns and flowing coats, spread from the west of Scotland throughout the world. For the first time in 35 years we were missing our regular New Year guests the Shaws and the Gillespies who decided that the journey north was going to be too much for them. After what can only be described as a BUSY summer season we are looking forward to the Autumn and cosy nights by the fire. We completed all the lodge re-cladding last winter so this year it will be back to paint pots and rollers as the interiors get their seasonal freshen-up. With so many short breaks this year the lodges have taken a bit of a pounding and the wet summer weather did not help. Let's hope this winter we get a good cold spell with bright...
