Location of Cologin Chalets and Cottages

Cologin is less than 3 miles from Oban but to get the most out of your stay in Argyll we recommend that you have access to a car during your visit. To reach us:

By Car: To reach Oban from the south there are two main routes – both of which pass through beautiful scenery. Choose between the A82 and Loch Lomond or the A83 and Loch Fyne and join the A85 which brings you into Oban from the north!

By Train: From Glasgow (Queen Street station) the train follows the scenic West Highland Line from Crianlarich direct to Oban station.

By Plane: Private flights can land at Oban Airport, 5 miles north of Oban at North Connel. A seaplane also has daily flights from Glasgow to Oban Bay. See for info.

By Boat: Access Lerags Glen by sea via Loch Feochan. Landing slip and pontoons at Ardoran Marine, 2 miles from Cologin.

Car Hire: You can hire a car from Flit Self Drive in Oban. See for info. You can also collect a car from Scotland's international airports and claim a discount with Rhino Car Hire by booking from this page:

Once in Oban, take the A816 towards Lochgilphead and turn RIGHT to LERAGS just past Oban Livestock Market. Follow the single track road into Lerags Glen for about ½ mile and turn RIGHT to Cologin and The Barn. The first building you will see as you arrive at Cologin is The Barn – our country pub – this doubles as reception so please check in at the bar!

Whether you choose the cosy one bedroom Outer Hebridean chalet or the spacious two bedroom Inner Hebridean lodge or one of our private houses you will be warm and comfortable.
Highly recommended for food

The Barn serves a range of food and is delicious to eat. Very reasonably priced and so worth booking. There is a log burning stove inside and out in the conservatory. They start serving meals at midday and non residents are welcome.

New Years Eve

Had a fantastic New Years Eve at The Barn, food was excellent, atmosphere was great, the entertainment was second to none. This was the way to bring in the New Year. Fantastic well done Mary and staff.

A must-have-been-there for all visitors of Argyll

Since I heard about "The Barn" some years ago, I have always spent a lovely Sunday afternoon there during my yearly holidays in Scotland. The place is unique: Delicious food and drink comes along with the sweet sound of the musicians who meet there completely relaxed on Sundays.

Superb Stay

We could really appreciate the beauty of the scenery around us. It is stunning. Mountains, rivers, deer and birds of prey. Absolutely stunning. You are only 20 minutes from Oban and under 2 hours to Fort William. I will definitely return here. I highly recommend it.

30th Birthday Weekend

We had a family gathering of 68 people at Cologin this weekend and had the most fantastic weekend ever! The farm house was amazing and a great size for us.

Another Great Stay

My wife and I are just back from our 3rd stay this year at Cologin County Chalets and Lodges. This time we stayed in chalet No 1 which was a one bedroom chalet. What can we say another great stay.

Peaceful, Scenic Retreat

Our lodge was extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped. I had a brilliant sleep, super mattress. The location itself was so peaceful, beautiful unspoilt countryside with great forest walks for dogs.
