Spring News

Re-fits, Re-furbs and new additions!

Katie and the team were kept busy throughout the early months of 2025 as storms swept through Argyll leaving damage to property, trees, fences and several missing (never to be found) rubbish bins and roof gutters! After a great deal of hard work Cruachan reopened to guests this Spring and so far our April visitors are loving the new open plan layout and the south facing decking.

As with any small business, budgets need balanced and some of our scheduled refurbishments have unavoidably been delayed. As Easter is almost upon us we’re unlikely to get much more completed as we always try to undertake all but essential maintenance when the site is not busy with holidaymakers. There may be a few minor tweaks as the season ramps up but with Katie now expecting her first baby she will be juggling the demands of growing a new human with managing Cologin so we are not planning anything major.

Those who follow @cologinfarmlodges on social media might have seen her posts announcing her baby news. So this summer you might meet Cologin’s latest team member – yet to be named of course, but we can reveal HE is expected in August. No such thing as maternity leave for a family firm such as ours so Jim and I will be back on duty. We might have got a bit rusty over the last couple of years as we’ve been enjoying a well-earned semi-retirement. Oh well – it will be worth it and we’re over the moon for Katie and hubby Andy as they prepare for a new chapter in their life together.

Spring certainly is a time for new life and this week we’ve had the most glorious sunny and dry weather. Let’s hope it continues until Easter as the schools here break for the holidays today. If you’re looking for a little inspiration for a family holiday with us why not take a look at the itinerary I’ve put together for Wild About Argyll and Love Oban.
