Rule of 6/2 OVERTURNED

The Scottish government has now banned households from visiting each other in their own homes. Self-catering is commercial accommodation and has strict government approved sectoral guidance in place to allow us to operate safely. Despite initial advice from Ministers that self-catering could continue to follow the rule of 6/2 a ‘change’ has now been decreed. A fumbling apology has been issued by Cabinet Minister Fergus Ewing to the ASSC – our industry trade association but sorry is frankly not enough. Having made a complete U-turn the self-catering sector in Scotland can no longer accept bookings from more than one household/extended household for one property.

If you have a break booked with another household at Cologin please get in touch and we can discuss appropriate action to allow you to enjoy your holiday without breaking the law.

There is also new ‘guidance’ that households should not share private transport together, but if it is necessary to travel together to reach Cologin for your self-catering holiday then please wear a mask as you would in a taxi or in public transport.

The rule of 6/2 is still in force in the Barn Bar and as we’ve had table service only since reopening there are no further changes in operation other than a 10pm curfew even on weekend nights. If you are two households staying at Cologin – in separate properties – you can meet up in the Barn Bar for dinner and drinks. Social distancing rules are in place at the government approved 1m rule and you must wear your masks whilst entering and moving around indoors.

Our sectoral guidance is extremely strict on Covid cleaning protocols and we are confident that a holiday in any self-catering property at Cologin is safe. We look forward to welcoming visitors and we simply ask that you play your part to keep our staff, family and other guests safe during your visit. Hand hygiene, face coverings, social distancing and test and trace must all be followed as required.

Stick to the rules and stay safe. Any or sincere apologies if this new legislation (law from 25th September) impacts your planned visit.

The Battison family xx
(update 06/01/2021 – Hospitality, non essential retail and all accommodation is now closed. Please note, meeting outside is now also restricted in level 4 – you can still meet to socialise or exercise outside but with just one other person from the same or another household)
