Happy Christmas!
The Battison Clan will be be gathering for a family Christmas this year – the first for several years with zero restrictions! Whilst we all know that Covid has not gone away, for most people it is now part of the usual round of winter bugs, colds and flu, and long may that continue. I’ve never been one for fairy lights and tinsel but with so much economic gloom in the forecast I caved early and put my tree up well in advance of previous years. And of course Katie’s house is lit up like a Christmas Tree so if you’re staying at Cologin over the festive period you will always know where to find her.
The senior Battisons continue to retire from hands on management and Katie has full control of the reins on a day-to-day basis. We’re here is she needs us (and if our customers want to say hello we are literally still here so don’t be shy) but we plan on spending (even) more time skiing and sailing and less time in the office. Poor Katie will have to deal with the latest raft of Scottish legislation for our sector – none of which will make any difference to your stay at Cologin, but all of which will cost our business a great deal of time, effort and expense. Running a small family firm in Scotland continues to be challenging – it’s a good job we love what we do.
Wishing all our guests past, present and future a very Happy Christmas. The Barn will close on Christmas Eve and reopens for our Hogmanay guests on the 28th December. If you’ve not booked a table for New Year I am afraid you’re now too late – but you’re welcome to come and join the ceilidh after the dinner’s been cleared. And we will have our usual midnight bonfire (wellies essential) and fireworks to mark the passing of 2022 and the start of 2023.
