Enhanced Cleaning Protocol at Cologin

Whilst we await the official government guidance for our sector (due on on the 18th June) we’ve been looking at enhanced cleaning protocols and how we adapt our changeover operations to reduce the risk of Covid 19 to our staff, our guests and our family.

We’ve always placed a high priority on cleanliness and our guests rightly expect to find their accommodation clean and tidy on arrival. Now guests will also find it has been sanitized too with particular attention paid to ‘touch points’ such as light switches, door knobs, cupboard handles and even well-used objects such as taps, kettles, toasters and kitchen utensils.

We have had a few key workers on essential business at Cologin during the lock down so we’ve already had to amend the way we work. Our lodges are self-contained and spread out around the park so there’s little chance of accidental contact between guests. We’ve removed all soft furnishings and promotional literature and we’ve reduced the amount of crockery and cutlery we leave and we now ask our guests to keep windows slightly ajar when they are inside to ensure a good flow of fresh air and use the outside decking area as much as possible. (Fortunately the weather has been exceptional so having a BBQ and eating ‘al fresco’ has been a welcome diversion for many.)

Once we are back open to the general public we will be operating an AMBER changeover  – a two stage system which involves a full clean first followed by disinfecting and sanitizing everything and everywhere including curtains and carpets. We believe that this process means that our guests can be confident that our properties are not just visibly clean, but we’ve killed 99.999% of all invisible viruses and bacteria.  We’ve spend a fortune on hospital grade sanitizers and we have PPE ready for when our furloughed staff return.

And to keep our guests safe we will provide disinfectant/anti bacterial wipes and hand sanitizing gel in each lodge and we have masks available too if someone arrives without their own. We will be asking guests to strip their own beds and bag up all used linen so our staff don’t need to handle these high risk materials and we will also require guests to empty all bins and bag-up all rubbish and leave in the outside bin before departing their lodge.

There may be other requirements and recommendations that we will need to implement once we know the full government guidance, but our GOLD standard enhanced cleaning protocols will now be in place until Covid 19 ceases to be threat to humanity.

You will find our full cleaning protocols when you log in to our Cologin guest portal. This is another new feature and that’s where all our guest information can now be found as you manage your own booking online.

Dealing with Coronavirus is not a sprint but a marathon and we do now feel we are making progress and we look forward to re-opening to the general public as soon as we are allowed to do so.  In the meantime, we’re using our time to get to grips with the new regime and complete our risk assessments so we’re GOOD TO GO!
